Ador was my first ridgeback as well as a dog. He was a dog of exceptional character. He had a very calm and self-balanced nature! He was unique, very wise and big “Mr. Dog”. I am very grateful for beautiful nine years in his company. Ador made our family happier and also better. It is miracle to have, but very painful to lost a dog of such a great personality. I thank all the stars in the sky that Ador was and always will be ours! |

I was
passing judges exams for trying Rhodesian Ridgeback and Thai
Ridgeback dog breeds in years 2001-2002. During 2004 - 2006 Years I was as head breeder advisor for Rhodesian Ridgeback and Thai Ridgeback dog for Slovakian Ridgeback Club. |
I have always thought that once I´d enrich my pack with Ador´s daughter. However the more I know about breeding and genetics, the less I am satisfied with the matings, regardless of how good the offspring was.
Breeding of Rhodesian Ridgeback is quite recent in Slovakia. It still misses a certain homogenity, type stability, significant lineages and geneticly established features. On the top of it our breeding got to a dead point due to the lack of new blood. Having observed the situation which was not going to get any better I felt from all my heart an obligation to solve the situation by importing a bitch from healthy and type balanced line/breeding. I concider highly important to establish my breeding on an excellent-quality and geneticly balanced bitch. And that´s what my breeding programme is all about. (although I do not give up an idea of having an Ador´s offspring one day; he is an amazing dog and I have kept his frozen semen)
Why
AUSTRALIA?
As far as I know, Australians are very anxious about their dogs´ health, they follow both fulldentition and HD carefully as well as ellbows, eye and thyroid tests. They breed and also import high-quality dogs. Among all the continents they dispose the most type-balanced RR breedings.
In 1998 a friend of mine, who was a judge to the RR Club show in Adelaide brought me a tape from this Show. This record contains about 200 dogs standing up, moving and detailed shots of the head. I was astonished by the type similarity as well as by the perfect leg angulatuion of all those dogs. If ever there was any differency, it was usually an imported dog - often from England. This kind of balanced breeding and quiete tempers took my breath away and there was no doubt where my bitch is going to come from!
Untill last year I spent a lot of time studiing pedigrees, the australian video, Internet etc. As the time passed by I started to define which dogs I´d like to have (and not to) in my bitch´s pedigree.
Why MACUMAZAHN?
Following the bloodlines and their ancestors brought me to a certain number of kennels. In September 2001 I finally focused on 3 of them. The decision was made thanks to Ch. MACUMAZAHN PEARL JAM called Spice who I fell totally in love with. She charmed me by her „radiating“ personality.
Spice, together with her brothers and sisters, ancestors and offspring represent The perfect Rhodesian Ridgeback for me . They represent unity of beauty and intelligence . This kennel has managed to achieve a type-balanced, elegant, nice headed RR generation. I spent hours and hours watching the tape which contained spots with many of Spice´s ancestors and I must admitt those where the most beautiful and charming dogs I have ever seen in my life. I was definetelly decided my puppy would be from Macumazahn – whatever it´s going to cost me!
I addressed myself to Ms. Paula Edgar – the breeder. And I was lucky. After a few e-mails we managed to break through the language and continental barrier as well as through the post-communiste country prejudices. Not only Paula was willing to send me the best puppy of her breed but she also shared all the information , knowledge and experiences which classifies her a real professional. And believe it or not there is not many communicative breeders like her. Besides that she breeds excellent exterior, full dentition and no HD.
Her breeding is well known through amazing dark eyes, great exterior and charming temper. You just can´t help falling in love with it!
Even distinguished american breeders have been interested in her breed lately and Macumazahn´s frozen semen is being used in some african kennels.
Ms Paula Edgar was willing to send to Europe 2 of her best Puppy Girls. Both of them are a result of a long term breeding effort. Untill these days I can feel from her letters how
heart-breaking it must have been to let the 4 months old babies go.....
